Getting Over Those Post-Holiday Blues

Are you feeling just a little blue now that the holidays are over? Are you struggling to fall back into your everyday routines? Well, this week we are sharing some ideas for ways to overcome those blues or blah’s, or whatever you want to call them…

1) Relish the everyday.

See the value and comfort you find in everyday routines. Enjoy the gift of ordinary time and those regular habits and routines that bring us on fort and joy.

2) Bring in light and color.

Use candles! Use lights! Add bright colors to your wardrobe or your home. These easy ways of adding cheerfulness to our days can make a big difference in how we feel.

3) Look for ways to be cozy.

Use blankets, warm socks, sweaters, and fireplaces to make yourself and your family feel all cozy and warm this winter. Check out the concept of “hygge” and look for ways to add it to your home and your life!

4) Get the sleep you need.

Lack of sleep can lead to stress, weight gain, and depression. Get the rest you need this winter, and recognize that it’s OK to sleep a little more when the days are cold and dark. Go to bed early and you’ll make a big difference in how you feel the next day!

5) Make a plan.

Look to the future with joy and anticipation. Plan a trip, a new work or project, a party, a date, or even just a craft activity with your kids. Give yourself something fun to look forward to!

This week we share feedback from listeners Nina, Natalie, and David. Next week, I would love to hear from you! Share your thoughts and ideas on this episode or others.
